Pregnancy Photography client - Hillary - Mother of the Month for December
Mom wins a maternity photography session with Jennifer Loomis.
I met Hillary because she won a maternity photography session. AND I found out that she had called us seven years ago to have photography of her first pregnancy. She was so genuinely happy and positive, I knew she had to be my December Mother of the Month.
1. Tell me a little bit about yourself.
I'm a full-time mom, born and raised in Seattle. We live in a tiny apartment in the city, in the shadow of the Space Needle. My husband and I met 10 years ago at a Halloween party but just recently got married this summer by eloping in Maui. It was the best thing ever!! We have one seven-year-old daughter and a baby coming in January. Other than being a mom I enjoy sewing, meeting up with other moms here in the city, hanging out with my kiddo downtown, and scoping out the best bakeries.
2. Tell me about your decision to take family or maternity photographs, and why you trusted me to take these special photographs.
I recently won a contest through Village Maternity, an awesome store here in Seattle; and the prize was a session with Jennifer! I have been admiring her maternity photography since I was pregnant with Carmella and I was so excited to finally be shooting with her. I felt immediately comfortable and knew that she would capture some beautiful photos. My only regret is not doing more completely in the nude! I had such a great time and felt right at home in her studio. Carmella came as well and we took some wonderful photographs together.
3. Please feel free to include anything else you like that is interesting about you or your parenting philosophy.
My basic philosophy on parenting is that it is really important to trust your mothering and go with what feels right for you and your baby/child. Before I had children I had no idea that we would co-sleep well into her 7th year (still going!) but it has really been the best thing for us and for our daughter. I'm also a huge advocate for breastfeeding, and sometime next year I will be launching a little clothing line full of fun, stylish clothes that are a breeze to breastfeed in.At home, I try to keep life really simple now that we have another baby coming. I think having a minimalist style really helps. We live in a very small space (750 sq feet!) so its important we keep stuff at a minimum. It has been a fun challenge to see what we need and what we can live without!
