2/17/15 UPDATE: We have a name, Adopt-A-Child Photography. This will be the name we now use to indicate what we do.
2/15/15 UPDATE: To date we have already had more than 25 photographers apply to be a part of this awesome organization. This is awesome. We want more. So please send this information around to your professional photographer friends. Since this is all done on donated time - for now - we have needs that maybe you or someone you know would be interested in helping out. Thank you!
NEEDS:
1) We need a logo. I have done a mock one that will work, but I am not a designer.
2) Website where we can put our mission statement and where we can list who is a member, etc.
3) Donations like tee shirts, flash cards etc anything to help our photographers do their job to the best of their ability and also make it a little special for them to celebrate that they were selected.
4) Some food and drink for our training on March 19th. Photography can change a life! WANTED: Talented photographers who want to make a difference in a foster child’s life. Applications due March 1, 2015.The State of Washington, the Northwest Adoption Exchange and Jennifer Loomis Photography are looking for photographers who are willing to volunteer to help capture the essence of the foster children waiting to be adopted. Good photographs can make the difference between being adopted — or not –- for a child waiting for their adoptive family, and your talent can change a life. To qualify, photographers must submit a portfolio and short statement of why they want to be selected, be willing to undergo a state criminal background clearance check, and take a three hour training held by Jennifer Loomis Photography and Northwest Adoption Exchange on March 19th in Seattle. The training will cover how to make these special portraits, confidentiality and legal issues, and sensitivities around working with this special population of children. Photographers who are selected will then go on a list to be called upon by social workers when their child needs a new photo. Ideally the photographer can go to the child and photograph them in several different poses and locations (like outside or with a backdrop), and then submit to the Northwest Adoption Exchange to use on their website displaying waiting children.
Please submit a one page letter outlining why you want to do this, your experience, a website link or examples of your portraiture to Jennifer Loomis at images@jenniferloomis.dev by March 1. Notifications will go out March 7th.
